Former Magistrate Appointed Chief Registrar
This has been confirmed by the Attorney General in the President appointed government under the New Legal Order, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum this afternoon.
The President Ratu Josefa Iloilo now is expected to appoint Judges and Magistrates through a Judicial Services decree to get the court system back in operation as soon as possible.
He said there have been interested people who are willing to take up posts in the Judiciary.
Meanwhile, the Courts around the country remain closed for the second day today. A notice at the various registry's states that all cases listed for today will be deferred for one month.
It has also been confirmed that the Senior Court clerks may be called in to handle bail and custody cases for the time being.
It has been confirmed that the Chief Registrar Major Ana Rokomokoti is meeting with senior court officials to defer cases and set new dates until such time when the Judges and Magistrates are appointed.
