A former Assistant Minister is expected to be charged soon for allegedly obtaining more than $75,000 from a number of people in return for giving them a place at the Fiji School of Nursing.

Labasa Police confirm a team of detectives will travel to Viti Levu to lay charges against the former Assistant Minister.

The former assistant Minister was questioned and released by police a few months ago and his file had been sent to the DPP's office for assessment.

It is believed that a reply has been received from the DPP's office and charges are expected to be laid soon.

He is also alleged to have obtained goats, cash and other items from some parents who wanted their children to be given a place at FSN.

The two other people who acted as his agent in collecting the money are also expected to be charged soon.
