The Fiji Labour Party has expressed outrage that FICAC appears to be targeting only one town council and has not taken any action on evidence of corrupt practices against current and former mayors of other town councils.

Party's Assistant General Secretary Lekh Ram Vayeshnoi said that he handed files of many councils to FICAC when he was minister for Local Government however nothing has been done so far.

He said there is a very strong case for investigation against a former mayor and an investigation by the Special Branch also recommended that the matter go to the Crime Branch for further investigations.

Vayeshnoi said he does not understand why nothing has been done to date as the law should be equal to everyone.

Meanwhile, a FICAC Investigator confirmed that they are looking into the complaints it has received against the other town councils and its officials.
