Former GCC Chairman Dismisses Claims
Ratu Epeli Ganilau who is now the Interim Defence Minister says chiefs who are unhappy with Bainimarama's appointment should stop misleading the public.
He says it is clear that Bainimarama as the Interim Indigenous Minister can change the regulation governing the GCC and that was done through the gazette.
Ratu Epeli says as far as he is concerned, Bainimarama has followed the proper procedure which has resulted in him becoming the Chairman of the GCC.
However Ro Teimumu Kepa questions why a person who is not a chief has pushed himself to the top position of the Great Council of Chiefs.
But Ratu Epeli Ganilau says the precedent was already set when Sitiveni Rabuka who was not a chief, took up the GCC Chairman's post.
He says people should just look at all the facts before speaking.
However Ro Teimumu says this action will not be entertained and they are now looking at their options before deciding on their next step.
