A former parliamentarian of the Fiji Labour Party charged with fraudulent conversion appeared in the Tavua Magistrates Court yesterday.

Anand Babla is alleged to have collected over $10,000 from two individuals for a rural electrification project while he was a parliamentarian last year.

However, Babla allegedly personally used the money. He pleaded not guilty before Magistrate, Suliana Tabiwalu.

He has been released on bail and is expected to appear in court on 3rd of September.
