The Fiji Independent Commission against corruption has laid charges against a former Finance Manager at FICAC.

Anil Datt Maharaj has been charged with willfully removing evidence and appeared in the Suva Magistrates court.

It is alleged that on 13th March this year, Maharaj removed evidence against a former accounts clerk, Marica Rokotavaga who has been charged with theft, falsification of documents and abuse of office.

No plea has been taken and Maharaj has been released on 5000 dollars bail with surety, ordered that he surrender his passport, report to the FICAC office every Friday and not to interfere with witnesses.

The case has been adjourned to 14th July.
