A former Accounts Clerk at the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption appeared in the Suva Magistrates court yesterday facing 37 charges brought against her by FICAC.

Marica Rokotavaga appeared before Magistrate Jude Nanayakkara and pleaded guilty to 11 counts of forgery, 11 counts of "Uttering Forged Documents", 11 counts of "Obtaining Money by False Pretence", 2 counts of "Falsification of Documents" and 2 counts of "Obtaining Property by Deception".

Rokotavaga, between 9th October 2009 and 25th February 2010, had obtained money amounting to over $15,000.00 by false pretense.

Rokotavaga, who represented herself in the proceedings, submitted that she was ready to take her plea.

After each of the 37 counts were read to her, Rokotavaga submitted that she understood all of the charges against her and pleaded Guilty.

She told the court that although she is representing herself in this matter, she would like to get assistance from Legal Aid for mitigation.

She added that her written Mitigation was prepared.

Prosecutor Vinsent Perera appeared for FICAC.

Magistrate Nanayakkara adjourned the matter to 9th September 2010 for Rokotavaga to make her mitigation submissions.
