Former Commissioner Central appears in Court
The High Court heard that between 1st May 2005 and December 31st 2006, Devo allegedly used his position as a member of the Liquor Tribunal to demand bundles of fish and alcohol from Nitesh Chand from Toberua Island Resort and Malakai Ravai in exchange for temporary liquor licenses.
Justice Goundar also heard that Devo allegedly used his position as Commissioner Central from the 1st until the 31st of December 2006, to approve the use of Government vehicles for the collection of alcohol from various outlets in Suva as well as telling his staff to go and get drinks and supply for their office Christmas party
It is also alleged that during that same period, Devo swore and forced a staff member to buy pig feed and feed his pigs.
Devo pleaded not guilty to all these charges and has been told to appear in Court on the 1st of March next year for hearing.
