The formation of the Independent Legal Services Commission (ILSC) has attracted interests from other professions to set up similar bodies to look into complaints lodged by members of the public.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said the Commission being an independent body will act in the interests of members of the public when they lodge their complaints against lawyers, and the idea has received positive feedback from other professional bodies.

Sayed-Khaiyum said bodies such as the ILSC will give people a chance to lodge their complaints to an independent body, which will be dealt with fairly.
