Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan has urged players to forget the win in Tokyo and now focus on the task of defending their title in Hong Kong.
Speaking to Fijivillage Ryan said he knows how special Hong Kong is to the people of Fiji but they will have to re-group and start all over again.
Ryan has also confirmed that an assessment of the players is yet to be done and changes will only be made if there are any injury concerns.
Fijivillage understands that players who might be carrying injuries are Samisoni Viriviri, Apisai Domolailai, Donasio Ratubuli and Benito Masilevu.
Ryan confirmed that Joeli Lutumailagi, Semi Kunatani and Samu Saqiwa are on standby as the trio flew out of the country yesterday to take part in the Hong Kong 10’s tournament.
The Hong Kong 7s kicks starts this Friday.
On Saturday Fiji will take on Wales in their first pool match at 1.26am, then Sri Lanka at 5.24pm and then Kenya in their last pool match at 11.16pm.
On Sunday the cup quarter-finals will start 3.28pm, cup semis will start at 7.52pm and the cup final will be at 10.25pm.
