A team of forensic officers are still trying to ascertain the cause of the fire which claimed the life of a 57-year-old man of Malolo Nadi last night.
Police have confirmed that they are yet to interview the deceased's wife as she is still admitted at the Nadi hospital.
She sustained 18 percent burns while trying to escape from the burning house.
The incident took place at around 11 last night.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the home engulfed on flames.
The deceased who was a retired FSC worker tried to escape but was trapped inside his three bedroom house.
Post mortem is expected to be conducted tomorrow.
