Charges are expected to be laid against a 26 year old foreigner for allegedly raping and throwing a 28 year old woman into the sea at Suva seawall early yesterday morning.

The suspect is a crew member of a vessel berthed at Suva Harbour.

Assistant Police spokesperson, Corporal, Suliano Tevita said the suspect met the victim and invited her to have barbercue and lured them to the Suva seawall.

He then allegedly raped the victim and threw her over the seawall, into the sea.

The victim was rescued by some bystanders near the seawall and taken to CWM hospital.

The suspect is expected to be charged later today or tomorrow morning.
