A foreign national charged with allegedly obtaining goods using fake credit cards appeared in the Suva Magistrates court late yesterday afternoon.

The Ghana national has been charged with several counts of obtaining goods using a false instrument and has been remanded in custody for another 48 hours as police want to question him further in relation to other alleged illegal activities.

Fijivillage has received confirmation that Westpac Bank in Suva and Police are jointly investigating the man and an accomplice who are alleged to have fake credit cards in their possession.

They are alleged to have used the credit cards for a number of transactions before one of the business owners raised the alarm with Westpac Bank.

Westpac Bank has confirmed that they are also investigating the matter.

The Ghana national is expected to appear in court again tomorrow when a plea is expected to be taken.
