Foreign Affairs Ministers agree to meet again
Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, Stephen Smith and Murray McCulley discussed ways at improving bilateral relations between and amongst the three countries.
A MINFO statement said the meeting was convened under an atmosphere of frank and fruitful exchange and this opportunity to meet early in 2010 was considered by the Ministers as an important step towards resolving outstanding issues of mutual importance to the three countries.
The three Ministers viewed this meeting and the meetings in the future as both constructive and progressive in the maintenance of healthy and mutually respective bilateral relations.
Kubuabola also met separately with the NZ Foreign Minister, Murray McCulley to also discuss issues of mutual interest.
Meanwhile Australia waived the travel ban on Fiji's Foreign Affairs Minister Ratu Inoke Kubuabula for the private talks in Canberra.
Earlier today Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said dialogue needs to start before steps are considered in relation to the appointment of the High Commissioners.
New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully, who was in Canberra for the talks, is hoping to have the best outcome out of the meetings with Fiji.
Both ministers had said that an agreement to meet again would be considered progress.
