The New Zealand rugby sevens captain DJ Forbes has been ruled out of the USA 7s with a hamstring injury.
Forbes picked up the injury two minutes into New Zealand’s 29-14 finals win over England on Saturday night to claim the Wellington leg of the Series for the fifth time.
He’s been replaced by Waikato’s Rory Grice who is set to make his New Zealand Sevens debut at the US tournament.
The New Zealand team departs Wellington for Las Vegas today.
New Zealand plays its first match against Uruguay at 7.08am this Sunday.
