Waratahs fullback, Israel Folau has confirmed his interest in playing sevens rugby at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Folau began his rugby career tentatively but in the past three weeks has shown phenomenal improvement and is now leading the Super Rugby competition for runs and metres.

With rumours that Folau has already agreed to join the Bulldogs NRL side next year, the 24-year-old made it clear that he was not locked in to any deal beyond 2013.

Meanwhile, Quade Cooper and Nick Phipps have been overlooked for the 30-man Wallabies’ squad that will gather in Sydney on Sunday for a two-day administration camp.

James O’Connor is the favourite to wear the Wallabies No.10 jersey for the opening Lions test.
