The unusual occurrence of large number of termites seen flying in parts of Lautoka recently is causing panic among some people, however the Bio Security team said there is no medical threat to people.
This is according to Bio Security Officer Faiyaz Ali who said while it is understandable that people have been alarmed at the unusual sighting, there is no medical reason to be concerned about it if people come into contact with the termites.
Ali has also confirmed that the problem is only occurring in parts of Lautoka.
Meanwhile with earlier confirmation of infestation in Labasa, Ali said there have been no reports from Labasa area about flying termites.
