The Digicel Fiji 7s team scored seven tries against USA to beat them in the first pool game at the Australia 7s by 41-5.
Fiji's tries came from Mitieli Nacagilevu, Ilai Tinai, Osea Kolinisau and two tries each to David Batiratu and Jerry Burotu.
Fiji was leading 22-5 in the first half.
Head coach Iliesa Tanivula is expected to start Emosi Vucago and Osea Kolinisau, who came off the bench against the US, as he tries out some combinations ahead of the elimination stages.
In other results from this afternoon's games, Samoa thrashed Japan 40-7, New Zealand beat Wales 36-10, Kenya beat Cook Islands 19-12 and England thrashed Scotland by 45-7.
Fiji's next pool game is at 5:57pm against Tonga and their last pool game is at 9:40pm against Australia.
