Flying Fijians ready for Canadians
Speaking to Village sports, FMF Flying Fijians captain Mosese Rauluni said they are ready to take the Canadians upfront.
Rauluni adds that individual players have been spoken to regarding handling errors who have promised a better performance.
The FMF Flying Fijians and Canada have so far played eight times with Fiji winning six matches and two going to Canada. The last time they met each other was six years ago when Fiji beat them 52-23 in Tokyo.
The Fiji/Canada match will kick off at mid night tonight.
Meanwhile, New Zealand became the sixth side in World Cup history to score more than 100 points when they racked up an emphatic victory over Portugal by 108 points to 13 in their group C match.
The All Blacks scored 16 tries as they overpowered their mostly amateur opponents, with winger Joe Rokocoko and centres Aaron Mauger and Conrad Smith helping themselves to two apiece.
An injury to Mils Muliaina proved the only dark cloud over Lyon as he left the field clutching his left leg and sat with it iced and elevated for the remainder of the match.
In the other World Cup match, the Wallabies defeated Wales by
32-20 and their four-tries-to-two win has booked a likely quarterfinal clash against an out of-sorts England in Marseille in three weeks time.
Rookie player Berrick Barnes has magnificently filled the huge boots of Stephen Larkham, as he responded superbly to the pressure of his late call-up.
And in a world cup thriller which ended just moments ago, Ireland defeated Georgia 14 - 10. Georgia led 10 - 7 10 minutes into the second half but Ireland came back through a well structured try.
The crowd was at the edge of their seat as the Georgians crossed the line with time up on the clock, only to be denied a historical victory as the ball was held up.
Australia fly half Stephen Larkham will undergo a knee operation tomorrow and could be out of action until the World Cup semifinals.
Larkham missed Australia's 32-20 victory over Wales after his right knee locked up during a kicking session and again overnight and plans for a late training run were ditched.
The Wallabies remain hopeful that he will be back for their final pool B game against Canada on September 29th, but Larkham said that after a tremendous performance this morning, Barnes can lead Australia to the semifinals in his absence.
