The Flying Fijian 15s rugby team is on course to finish second in the Pacific Nation Cup after beating Samoa 19-14 yesterday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
While the Fiji team needs to beat Japan on Friday to claim the second spot, yesterday the Ilivasi Tabua coached side came out strongly in the second half to lay a strong platform for the win.
Captain Kele Leawere said that they had a game plan for the Samoans in the second half and it worked for them.
Also veteran inside centre Seremaia Bai produced a man-of-the match performance yesterday in guiding the young back-line.
Bai missed only one kick from his 5 attempt at goal and believes the new players in the team stood to the test.
Fiji will now prepare for their last game against Japan on Friday at the TFL Stadium.
