Vodafone Flying Fijians beat Tonga 30-22 in the opening match of the Pacific Nations Cup at the ANZ Stadium.
The Tongans scored the first try in the 5th minute before Fiji came back through a try by Henry Seniloli.
Fiji was leading 10-5 at halftime.
The Tongan’s scored two tries in the second half and were leading Fiji 22-16 before Waisea Nayacalevu and Peni Ravai scored a try each to take the match far from Tonga’s reach.
The Fiji Sports Commission has donated $200,000 to the Vodafone Flying Fijians yesterday.
Commission Chairperson Peter Mazey has called on the members of the public to come forward and assist as they need about $6 million.
