The Flying Fijian 15's rugby team has ended their 3 year losing streak to Ikale Tahi Tonga with a 36-22 win in the Pacific Nations Cup in Nuku'alofa.

Tonga started well and scored in the 2nd minute of play after full-back Dan Rawaqa allowed the ball to bounce inside his 22 metre line.

Fiji was awarded two penalty kicks but Rawaqa had an off day with his boot before winger Timoci Nagusa crossed over for the first try.

Tonga was awarded a penalty in the 32nd minute to lead 8-5

Fiji's tight-head prop Viliame Seuseu scored the second try in the 36th minute for Fiji to take the lead 12-8.

At the stroke of half-time, Ireland based Nagusa scored his second try and it was converted by Rawaqa for Fiji to increase their lead to 19-8 at half-time.

In the second half Tonga increased their lead with a try for the scoreline to read Fiji 19 and Tonga 15.

Fiji scored its 4th try to Sunia Koto after open-side flanker Samu Bola won a turnover but Tonga replied in the 24th minute with a penalty try after prop Graham Dewes was penalised but Fiji still lead 26-22.

The Flying Fijian were reduced to 14 men with a yellow card to Dewes but Dan Rawaqa increased Fiji's lead with a penalty for a 29-22 lead in the 36th minute.

At full-time first five eight Alipate Tani scored Fiji’s 5th try and was again converted by Rawaqa for a 36-22 win.

The Ilivasi Tabua coached side also recorded a bonus point win with winger Timoci Nagusa scoring two tries while Sunia Koto, Viliame Seuseu and Alipate Tani scored the other tries.

Tabua said the win is a special one for his players as this is the first time most of them are tasting victory at the top test level rugby.
