The Flying Fijians have been reminded to forget their names and their lives when they play the Barbarians tomorrow in Twickenham as they will perform a duty for God and country.

Team Manager Joe Browne said Fiji comes into the match as underdogs.

Fiji will hope to repeat their shock 29-9 win over the Barbarians at Newcastle Gosforth in 1970.

Barbarians chairman John Spencer, who played in that match, alongside greats like JPR Williams, Gareth Edwards and Fergus Slattery said Fiji showed that day that they didn’t respect reputations.

Spencer added if he remembers rightly, they were level at half-time but Fiji finished with seven tries and all they could do at the end was congratulate the Fijians on a phenomenal performance.

Springbok skipper Jean de Villiers leads a Barbarians side with several experienced internationals in their ranks against a Fijian side who will be determined to secure victory as the encounter will celebrate the 100 years of the Fiji Rugby Union.

Barbarians and All Blacks Coach Steve Hansen will also have a chance to field some of his lesser-used All Blacks tomorrow with the likes of Frank Halai, TJ Perenara, Steven Luatua and Dominic Bird.

The Barbarians meet the Flying Fijians tomorrow at 3:30am.
