Vodafone Flying Fijians Coach John McKee has about a month to put together a side to prepare for four matches next month.
Fiji will host Italy on the 7th of next month at the ANZ Stadium, one week later they face Tonga in the Pacific Nations Cup in Lautoka and a week after that, the Flying Fijians play Samoa in Suva before playing Cook Islands for the World Cup qualifier on the 28th of next month.
FRU Acting CEO Dr Berlin Kafoa said McKee will have the free reign in selecting the team.
FRU also clarified that former Flying Fijians captain Greg Smith was approached for the coaching job but there were some contractual issues.
The FRU board had a discussion after Smith was approached before John McKee was appointed.
