Fly the Fiji flag and spend this Fiji Day with family and friends. 

That is the call from the government as preparations get underway for the 43rd anniversary of Fiji’s Independence Day celebrations around the country this Wednesday and Thursday.  

In Suva, the highlight of the celebrations will be the trooping of the colors by the members of the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces at Albert Park where the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau who is the chief guest at the event will view the parade on Thursday. 

Lautoka will have their celebrations on Thursday. 

In Labasa celebrations will be held on Wednesday and will feature entertainment and displays by government and the private sector. 

The national anthem will be sung by the Nabala student band.

In Levuka, the Minister for Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation Dr Jiko Luveni will officiate at the celebrations.
