The months of April up until August are influenza months so please ensure that you take care of yourself and your family.

That is the advice from the Health Ministry as they expect a huge increase in people suffering from the seasonal flu during the next three months.

Spokesperson Iliesa Tora said we should never forget the incident last year when the Pandemic H1N1 virus spread through the country, adding that precaution is better than cure.

The Health Ministry’s National Influenza surveillance system has so far seen low activity with influenza viruses, but this may soon change as we head towards our ‘cooler season’ in the next few months.

So if you are sneezing and have a sore throat or any flu-like symptoms go and see a doctor.

When sneezing or coughing make sure to cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or handkerchief, use soap and water and wash your hands often and keep your distance from others to lessen the spread of flu.
