Flour/Sharps price to increase
This has been announced by the Prices and Incomes Board who announced the increase following the increases in the costs of imported wheat.
Wheat price increases are due to drought, floods and low stock which is sending the price of wheat rising to record levels of global commodity markets.
Per kg of flour (normal) will increase by 7c from $1.07 to $1.14, 1kg pack will increase by 8c from $1.16 to $1.24, a 2kg pack will increase by 16c from $2.18 making it from tomorrow, $2.33, a 4kg pack which was $4.44 will now increase to $4.74, an increase of 30c. A 5kg pack will increase by 38c from $5.36 to $5.74, a 10 kg bag of flour (normal) will now cost $11.58 from $10.81, an increase of 77c, a 25kg bag will increase by $1.87 from $26.11 to $27.98 and a 50kg bag will increase by $3.73 from $51.52 to $55.25.
As for Sharps, per kg will increase by 8c from $1.07 to $1.15, 1 kg will increase from $1.17 to $1.25, an increase of 8c, a 2kg pack will increase by 15c from $2.19 to $2.34, a 4kg pack will increase from $4.46 to $4.77, an increase of 31c, a 5kg bag will increase by 39c from $5.39 to $5.78, a 10kg bag will increase from $10.88 to $11.65, an increase of 77c, a 25kg bag will increase by $1.98, from $26.28 to $28.16 and a 50kg bag will increase from $51.84 to $55.60, an increase of $3.76.
The PIB have stated that these prices are for the cities of Suva and Lautoka, the towns of Ba, Lami, Nadi, Sigatoka, Tavua, Nausori and Nasinu and areas within 5 kilometres from any of the post offices situated at Korovou, Navua and Rakiraki.
