The Western Division is currently experiencing heavy rain at the moment.
Looking at some reports received so far:
In Lautoka:
About 436 residents are now sheltering at the three evacuation centers in Lautoka.
This comes after heavy showers were experienced since 8:30pm.
The three centers are Fiji Girmit Center, Naviyago Village Church and Vitogo Village Community hall.
Around 20 families have had to evacuate their homes after pine trees from a hill were washed down by heavy rain which has landed on the roof of their homes.
Drasa Civicivi road is underwater while Drasa Dam Rd is under 5 feet of water.
In Nadi:
Police have confirmed that a landslide has occurred in Nabou road which has left one side of the road closed.
They also say that water is currently rising at the Korovuto road and are still experiencing occasional rain.
Also the Nawaicoba road in Nadi which is the street farm road is under 7 feet of water and has left 10 people returning from work stranded.
In Tavua:
The Qelela Bridge has been washed away and has left 20 people stranded on the other side while the Tavua bridge is underwater.
In Rakiraki:
The Qalau road is currently under 4 feet of water, FSC road is under 2 feet of water while the Naqoro flats is currently under water.
According to Police in Rakiraki 2 evacuation centres have been opened up which are Rakiraki Muslim School and Rakiraki Methodist Church hall.
In Vutuni Road Ba, 3 bridges have been washed away and a landslide has occurred on the road.
Meanwhile the Ministry of Health spokesperson Peni Namotu is calling on those mothers that are in flood prone areas and are expecting delivery should move to their various health centres now.
