Flood waters rising in Tailevu/Naitasiri
People living in the low areas along Waila feeder road in Nausori are now moving to higher ground as flood waters have started to enter some homes in the area.
Waila resident Alvin Prakash said water has entered about four homes and the occupants are now trying to move their belongings to higher ground.
More areas in Tailevu and Naitasiri have been affected by flood waters.
Works Ministry Spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete confirms a major landslide has occurred at Savu Highway in Sawani and the road has been closed to all traffic.
Waqainabete said flood waters have also covered parts of the Savu road.
Apart from this, Vuniniudrovu road in Sawani is also under flood water and closed to all traffic.
The Navatuvila road is also closed due to a landslide.
The Wainimalabe road near Serea village is also under flood water.
In Tailevu, Nabilo, Deep water roads as well as Viwa flats are covered with two feet of flood water and flood waters continue to rise.
No homes have been affected in these areas so far however people are being advised to move to higher grounds.
The approaches to the new Naqali bride are flooded and closed to all traffic.
In Nausori, Vuci south, Vusuya and Waituri roads are also closed to all traffic due to flooding.
Nadi Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad said a trough of low pressure approaching Fiji is expected to bring heavy rain in most parts of the country today.
