Flood waters in Nabilo Tailevu has started receding slowly.

The Advisory Councilor for the area Vijay Prasad said roads are now clear and open to all traffic however farms are still under 2 feet of water.

The Nabilo area experienced flooding this morning which resulted in students and workers not going to school or work.

However, The Eastern Regional Command Centre in Nausori reports that Viwa, Waimaro flats and Navunisole in Tailevu are still under water while the Naivicula bridge has been damaged due to flooding and heavy rain.

People in Nabilo Tailevu are experiencing localized flooding after heavy rain in the area last night and early this morning.

The Advisory Councilor for the area Vijay Prasad said farms and roads are under four feet of water since this morning affecting students and workers who could not go to school or work as the roads are closed to all traffic.

He said there are close to 40 houses in Nabilo mostly owned by farmers whose crops have been damaged due to the floods however, flood waters have not entered any of the houses so far.

He said they are now waiting for flood waters to recede before assessing the damage.

The Eastern Regional Command Centre in Nausori has reported that Viwa, Waimaro flats and Navunisole in Tailevu are also under water while the Naivicula Bridge has been damaged due to flooding and heavy rain.

Meanwhile, Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad said the localized flooding is the cause of heavy rain yesterday due to a weak trough of low pressure.
