A number of people are badly affected by the floods in Ba and the Secretary of the Lions Club in Ba is calling for assistance.
Terence Nitya Prakash said he has visited a number of the affected areas in Ba and many people are facing extreme hardship.
Prakash said for the families that have been badly affected, they do not know how they will send their children to school next week.
A family of Talaiya Ba has lost all their belongings in the recent flood.
Family member Saimun Nisha told Fijivillage that this flood was worse than 2009.
The mother of five said they are using water from the nearby river to drink and cleaning up as they have no tap water.
According to Nisha, her children will not be able to go to school on Monday and they need assistance.
The Rama Krishna Mission is already on the road trying to assist the people most affected by the floods.
Speaking from Nadi, Swami Tananda said they started distributing meals to 400 people from Tuesday and many people in Korovuto and Nawaka are badly affected and need urgent assistance.
Swami Tananda said they will do proper assessments to get the actual number of students who need assistance.
