Flood Waters Enter Town Area
Our reporter Gulsher Ali said flood waters continue to rise and the road between Nadi and Lautoka is now closed to all traffic.
He said people have been warned not to enter Nadi town and not to cross the main street as the two rivers near the town have burst their banks and flood waters have entered the town area.
There is about 6 feet of water in Nadi town, the Hospital Road and the Nadi bus stand. The Nadi back road is also under flood waters and closed to all traffic.
Heavy rain is continuing.
A flash flood warning remains in force for the western division and Nadi Weather Office Director, Rajendra Prasad has called on people to take precautionary measures.
Prasad is also concerned that a number of people are just rushing over to see the flooding in Nadi town without realizing that they are hindering the work of the authorities.
