Flood waters are entering the Navua Hospital grounds with the staff quarters and the main administration office currently flooded.
While rain has stopped, Navua Hospital Sub Divisional Medical Officer Dr Tiko Saumalua said as a precaution they had evacuated 3 patients to the CWM hospital and had also contacted loved ones of the bodies in the morgue to inform them of the need to transfer the bodies if flood waters continue to rise tonight.
Saumalua said in the past hour they had admitted another patient and will closely monitor the situation if the need arises to transfer the patient as the high tide is still to come at 8.30.
Meanwhile, Police in Navua are advising people living near the Navua river to take precautions.
Station Officer Josaia Naimasi said despite the weather clearing, and the Navua river receding slowly they have advised the 120 people sheltering at the LDS Church in Calia to remain overnight.
