The interim government has come up with a preliminary assessment report stating the extent of losses to the various sectors of our economy.

Interim Provincial Development Minister Ratu Epeli Nailatikau confirmed the total cost of damage done by the recent flood is now standing at $54.9 million.

According to Ratu Epeli, water and sewerage has received $8.5 million worth of damages, $15 million worth of damages to roads, $26.3 million for agriculture, $2.3 million for education, $2.3 million for FEA and $520,000 for health.

According to Ratu Epeli, these assessments have been obtained as of Sunday and their teams are continuing with the assessment on the ground.

Ratu Epeli has assured the people of Fiji that rehabilitation work has begun and asked those not affected to help the interim government.
