A flash flood warning is in place for the low-lying areas in the Western and Southern parts of the main islands later today.

The Nadi Weather Office said the active trough of low pressure is still over the group and this could bring heavy rain mostly in the afternoons.

Forecasters say people living in the low-lying areas in the Western and Southern divisions should take precautions.

A strong wind warning remains in force for the Yasawa Mamanuca group, Southwest Viti Levu, the Kadavu passage, Koro Sea, Vatu-i-ra passage and Southern Lau group. Mariners have been advised to take precautions while going out to sea.
