A flash flood warning remains in force for low-lying areas in the Western parts of the main islands as the weather office predicts more occasional heavy rainfall throughout today.

The weather office said an active trough of low pressure to the south of Fiji is gradually drifting south away from the group.

However, rain and thunderstorms are expected over most places today with winds increasing to strong with speeds of 45km/hr gusting to 65km/hr over Yasawas, Mamanucas and western parts of Viti Levu.

Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Atu which is currently affecting Vanuatu is projected to affect New Caledonia as it moves south.

Tropical Cyclone Atu is said to be one of the largest systems to be formed in the Pacific region.
