The Nadi Weather Office is calling on people staying in low lying areas to take the necessary precautions as a flash flood warning is in place for low lying areas around the country.
The weather office said that an active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain lies slow moving over the Fiji group, which will see periods of heavy rain at times and a few squally thunderstorms.
Duty Forecaster, Sanjay Prakash said flashflood is most likely in the Eastern Division of Vitilevu and North Division later today.
For Navua, Suva, Nausori, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Labasa and Savusavu periods of heavy rain is expected throughout the day.
Calls have been to mariners to take necessary precautions as rough seas expected.
