The Nadi back-road has been closed to all traffic due to flash flooding as heavy rain continues in Nadi.
Police confirm that the road is under 3 feet of water and the Nadi bus stand is also flooded. According to police the Nadi River has started to rise.
A resident, Divesh Pillay said heavy rain was experienced throughout the night.
He said shopkeepers in Nadi are in their shops trying to secure their goods.
Meanwhile, Weather forecasters at the Nadi Weather office say an active trough of low pressure is still lying over the Fiji group, as heavy rain is expected for the whole of Fiji and flash flooding of low lying areas, rivers and streams is highly likely.
Forecasters say people should expect this kind of weather for the next 36 to 48 hours.
