Flash Flood Warning Issued
School Principal, Nacanieli Bola Rawaico confirms some students who are from the low lying areas are waiting for the parents to come before they leave the school premises.
Rawaico said they do not want to risk the lives of the students as the situation could get worse.
The Nadi Weather Office has today issued a flash flood warning for the low lying areas around the country. This is due to the trough of low pressure over the Western part of the country which is slowly moving East across the group.
This will see many parts of the country experiencing cool nights and heavy rain with thunderstorms.
For those heading out to sea, be careful as the Weather Office also said that there will be rough seas today.
Nadi Weather Office Director, Rajendra Prasad said people should take precautions now.
Flood waters have entered into the Rakiraki town due to the continuous heavy downpour this morning.
A resident, Sanjeet Maharaj who is in Rakiraki town told Fijivillage that a number of roads are now under flood waters and flood waters have started to enter some of the shops.
The Northern Division is also experiencing heavy rain at the moment.
Yaroi villager, Jone Tabucala from Savusavu told Fijivillage that the village school has closed down and they have sent close to 70 students home and adds that families have started storing water.
Meanwhile, heavy rain continues in Labasa.
