Two fishermen who allegedly struck a police constable with a pinch bar are expected to be charged this morning.

The alleged incident took place when the officer caught them red-handed trying to break into a house in Qarase Road, Nadera yesterday morning.

Assistant Spokesperson Sergeant Atunaisa Sokomuri said the officer sustained serious facial injuries and was rushed to the CWM hospital.

Police gave chase and the two were arrested in Qauia, Lami after afew hours.

It has been established that one of the suspects is from Narere, while the other is from Nadera.

According to Sokomuri the two went fishing but returned empty-handed and allegedly planned to break-into the house.

They remain in custody at the Valelevu Police station.
