In a first for Fiji, Clariti South Pacific Limited a subsidiary of Fijian Holdings Limited has embarked on an initiative to establish an Information Technology Skills Centre.

General Manager Jagath Karuna-Ratne said in an effort to address the shortage of IT experts in the country, the IT centre will provide practical training programmes or hands-on training whilst a project is in its implementation stage.

He adds the company will invite IT staff of organisations involved in its projects to join the Skills Centre and work with the Clariti Team and the foreign specialists on their projects thus providing them with the opportunity to upgrade their own IT skills.

Training participants will receive certificates after completion of programmes offered at the centre, which at present is pending registration under the Ministry of Education, Training and Vocational Educational Centre for recognition and accreditation of programmes that will be offered.
