First state witness takes stand
The accused persons include Naitasiri high chief, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, Feoko Gadekibau, Barbados Mills, Sivaniolo Nailago, Metuisela Mua, Eparama Waqatairewa, Kaminieli Vosavere and Pauliasi Ramulo.
Lance Corporal Peniasi Kuli said in court that a meeting was hosted by the Qaranivalu Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, where he was told to bring his lot of boys to the next meeting in Sabeto.
Kuli said after the meeting at Toorak, Ballu Khan gave him $60 to buy a recharge card and keep in touch all the time.
Kuli said a day before the meeting in Sabeto, Mills called him to meet him at his sister's home at Nailuva Road.
Kuli remembered that Feoko Gadekibau, one of the accused, came to pick him up in one of Ballu Khan's vehicles.
Kuli said Mills encouraged him and told him that they had to stick to the plan.
Kuli said Mills also gave him $170 to pay for his fare and his boys' fare to Sabeto.
Kuli also talked with three members of the Territorial Force and told them about the plan to kill the Commander and dethrone the Military Government.
They agreed and promised to help him with gathering information as they thought it was a worthy cause, because they wanted to protect the nation.
Kuli said three members of the Territorial Force were Luke Soa, Saula Lasagavibau and Sevuloni Kaidreli.
Kuli said while he and the boys were on their way to Sabeto, Mills called and told them once they reached the Sabeto junction, the three were to get off the van and walk to Sivaniolo Nailago's farm.
He said when they reached the farm. Mills and Feoko searched them to check if they had any devices on them. The boys were then welcomed on board.
Kuli said Sivaniolo brought his laptop and told the boys that the plan was to eradicate the Military and Fiji is to be declared a Police State and if there was any trouble, then the New Zealand and Australian Army would be called.
Kuli said after the meeting at Sabeto, they had lunch then headed down to Prince Charles Park to watch a Naitasiri vs Nadi match that was on.
Ballu Khan paid for the tickets.
The case will continue at 9 this morning, where Defence Counsel, Akuila Naco is expected to start his cross examination.
