The First Ever Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines was launched yesterday titled "Na Noda Mataniciva".

These guidelines will help teachers provide more standardized and professional classes to around 9,000 children aged between three and six years.

Australia's Counselor for Development Cooperation James Sweeting said the new curriculum will educated and encourage teachers and parents to create safe and caring environments that are necessary for children's physical health, mental alertness and social stimulation.

Meanwhile, the Australia's aid program has contributed around $2.8 million to the Early Childhood Education Initiative in Fiji.

This has trained over 700 kindergarten teachers to meet the new Curriculum standards. It also funded the development of the Book.

Permanent Secretary for Education Filipe Jitoko said the government has given a $1 million grant to help the Early Childhood Education and its teachers for next year.
