As a result of good cane crushing operations, the Fiji Sugar Corporation has revealed that the first shipment for the United Kingdom is now at the Lautoka wharf.

Chief Executive, Deo Saran said as of Monday the 14th, the Fiji Sugar Corporation Sugar mills have crushed a total of 326.300 tonnes of cane produced 26,900 tonnes of raw sugar and 31,559 tonnes of molasses.

Saran said the first shipment to the UK is at the Lautoka port after loading 3,885 tonnes of sugar at Malau and is expected to load another 26,115 tonnes at Lautoka.

He added that a second shipment was expected towards the end of the month and said that it was important that all stakeholders play their part to meet market commitments.

Saran also said cane supply in the weekends remain weak and has called on growers representatives, farmers and harvesting gangs in all cane districts to improve the weekend supply and take advantage of the current good weather.
