The first round of the mosquito spraying campaign to tackle the dengue outbreak has been completed with the second round on hold.

This has been confirmed by the Suva City Council Director Health Services, Nacanieli Kotoiwasawasa who said the second round of spraying is on hold as the Council is awaiting the availability of the special spraying truck from the Health Ministry, and also for good weather to prevail before continuing.

However, Kotoiwasawasa said the special cleanup campaign has ended with a good response from all areas.

Meanwhile, to date, two thousand one hundred and twenty seven people have been infected with dengue.

Director Primary Health Services Dr Losevati Alefaio has confirmed these figures saying there were 69 confirmed cases in the Northern Division, 693 in the West and 1,365 in the Central/Eastern Division.

The Health Ministry is also calling on people to still take precautions as the Dengue Outbreak is not over yet.
