A mother's sacrifice, love, commitment, hardships and pain finally paid off this morning after receiving a call from her son.

Mere Nakaitaci could not hide her early morning joy as her son Noa Nakaitaci relayed the message to her that he has created history by becoming the first Fijian to join the French national rugby side.

Mere said she gave up her job after Noa was born and never regretted making that decision.

Mere added that she is just happy like any other mother in the world when hearing good news about her son.

Mere also said he is not surprised that her second child and only son in a family of three has created history.

Mere said she did not agree with Noa attending RKS because he is their only son but looking back she knows Noa made the right decision.

Noa represented Lautoka in 2008 and captained the national Under 19 side in 2009.

The 22 year old from Naluwai, Naitasiri caught the eyes of Phillipe Saint Andre the French coach after an impressive season for Clermont.

Noa attended Tilak High School and RKS before moving to France in 2009 to pursue his rugby dream.
