The first Fijian dialogue drama Lakovi is expected to show how culture can be practiced in a modern setting.
The "Lakovi" is a drama prepared by the University of the South Pacific's Larry Tomas and the heritage and Culture Specialist at the Fijian Trust Apolonia Tamata.
Lakovi is a Fijian custom where the family of a boy approaches the family of a girl asking for her hand in marriage.
In the Drama, Setoki who is in the British army and his family approach the family of Adi Kivi=iwai and shows how culture is still alive in an urban setting.
Co writer Apolonia Tamata said that in this is the first professional Fijian Drama and it is aimed at advocating culture.
Lakovi is also going to be released in a book and on DVD.
The Drama will be held from the end of the month until the 3rd of next month.
