First 2 overseas teams arrive for Uprising 7s
Thunderbolts under the leadership of Australian IRB 7s coach, Michael O’Connor have most of the leading players in the side as they will use this tournament to build on a combination for the NZ and USA 7s.
The Aussie side is in the URF Pool with LICI Army, Blue Gas Lautoka and the URF International team.
Auckland the winner of the NZ provincial 7s for the past 11 years will have Fijian players Amasio Raoma and Jone Tuiloma in their line-up which also have 8 of the players that won this year.
Former Fiji coach Wayne Pivac will join the team on Thursday ahead of the opening day on Friday.
Pivac’s team is in the BSP pool with URF Wardens, Courts Ratu Filise and FMF Warriors.
This morning organisers of the Uprising Fiji 7s confirmed that the winner of this year’s tournament will walk away with $25,000.
The Uprising Fiji International 7s men’s competition kicks-off at 10am Friday at the TFL Stadium between the Digicel Fiji Barbarians and Marist.
