The National Fire Authority has revealed that out of the 148 fires that were recorded for this year alone, 50 were due to electrical faults.

This follows two fires over the weekend that was a result of electrical faults.

Investigations into the fire in Natabua Lautoka yesterday indicates that it was electrical related.

National Fire Authority said the four bedroom house in Lautoka yesterday sustained 40 to 50 percent damages after a short circuit in the air conditioning unit situated in one of the bedrooms.

Three people were in the house when the fire started however no one received injuries.

Meanwhile in another fire in Namosau Ba Saturday morning was due to a short circuit in the meter box that was in the kitchen. The house was partially destroyed in fire.

During the time of the incident the family members were asleep, luckily they managed to escape in time, and no one was hurt.
