A group of specialists from the Health Ministry have been earmarked to commence training of firefighters to start taking over ambulance services from next year.

Health Ministry spokesperson, Illiesa Tora said that after Cabinet approval last week, the Ministry has ear-marked a number of their specialist who now will be aligned to the National Fire Authority and these specialists will be providing firefighters with basic life saving skills.

All ambulance service operation is expected to be handled by the National Fire Authority as early as January next year and once operation starts, 12 new ambulances will be brought in to modernize the ambulance fleet around the country.
